Abbey Hill, Clare (Hill Walk)
Duration Half Day (2-4 hours)
Distance 5 km
Level Easy
Description
Abbey Hill is a hill located in the very north of County Clare and famous for hiking. If you feel like somewhere different and need a nature fix I will bring you to the very place, Abbeyville.
A walk for every fitness level with outstanding views, wildlife and loads of amazing wildflowers along the way.
What I love about this location is the massive fossil limestone rock and its formations and shapes. This barren karst landscape was carved out by the sea over 350 million years ago. The summit is beautiful for an unforgettable picnic to take it all in as you look over incredible views of The Burren National Park and the famous Galway Bay. This limestone landscape is not too far from Aillwee Cave and Corcomore Abbey.
